My term of office as an elected Justice of the Peace began in February and other than one opposite-sex marriage in June, I hadn't been asked to do any other duties that I'm legally able to perform. That is until September 1 when Vermont's Marriage Equality law took effect. I'm going to use this post to document the same-sex marriages I perform.
Sunday, September 6, 2009Barb & Jesse
As soon as the bill was passed I was contacted by Barb and Jesse asking to perform their ceremony... as Amber LeMay. Their relationship had already been acknowledged by the state of Vermont by a Civil Union, but they wanted an upgrade. It was a beautiful day in Schmanska Park in Burlington. Michael and Colin were visiting Vermont on an extended vacation from New Zealand and decided to tie the knot. They have been together for twenty-plus years. They can get a Civil Union in NZ, but haven't yet. The ceremony took place in Oakledge Park in Burlington.
On September 26, the House of LeMay was part of the wedding party of Robin and Emily's nuptials. And while I didn't perform the ceremony, The House did perform at the reception.

Amanda and Pat
Together for three years, Amanda and Pat took the afternoon off from their business (Gulliver's Doggie Day Care) to tie the knot. It was a beautiful, sunny day on the shores of Lake Champlain at Red Rocks Park in South Burlington.
A LOT of our pictures/posts come from Burlington and our good friend Bob, so we've decided to let him loose on his favorite city and give him his own section of our blog... we'll call it BobTown. Most of the time it won't have anything to do with drag or gay stuff or even him... just stories about... BobTown. We get a lot of hits from all over the world - probably from people who want to know more about Vermont's Queen City. Maybe they're future tourists or they're thinking about moving. You locals may learn something, too! Enjoy!!
