Signs of Hate Coming to Montpelier
Well, I guess we had it coming... giving people equal rights DOES have a cost... September 1, 2009 is Marriage Equality Day in Vermont (for celebrations, click HERE) and Phred Felps plans on being the proverbial turd in our reception's punch bowl.
The Daysie Award-winning Green Mountain Daily reports on their blog:
"Well, the bad news is that they're (Phelps and his Westboro Baptist "church") bringing their fear and hatred to Vermont. On Tuesday, September 1, they're planning to protest at the Montpelier High School from 7:20 to 7:50 am, then go to the Vermont State House from 7:55 to 8:25 am, finishing up at the Montpelier City Clerk's office from 8:30 to 9 am." Later in the morning they'll head to Burlington to harass the Jewish community at the University of Vermont.

OMG! Is thsi for real? It's so outrageous, it's almost unbelievable. I
guess living in Vermont, I forget that there really are people who feel
this way. I feel dirty just reading it...
Free speech is a pain in the ass inst it.
It makes me sick & embarrassed that people STILL think this way. This is
beyond freedom of speech. It"s hostile!
First thought - COUNTERPROTEST. Second thought - why draw attention to
those jerks? Third thought - perhaps we could have a "God Loves Gays"
service at a Montpelier church.
