BobTown #14: Stonehenge - Vermont Style

posted Tuesday, 14 July 2009

Don't know if it's the recession giving people time on their hands, or perhaps it's all the artsy things happening concerning the quadricentennial celebration of Lake Champlain - but there's something going on down by the bike path.  Just south of Vermont Transit and north of the Barge Canal Bridge, someone(?) is creating pieces of art out of rocks, drift wood and other items washed up on the shore.  These pictures were taken during two different visits - a week and a half apart.

The stack above on the right is over six feet tall.

This mosaic piece is made from a 7'x7' piece of concrete that looks like it was part of a culvert system.  The hole in the middle still has part of a pipe in it.
The bottom one looks like some sort of "throne" but didn't appear to be used as some may think it was built for.  The one above that has a brick walkway into the lake.

I hope vandals leave this beautiful place alone.

A LOT of our pictures/posts come from Burlington and our good friend Bob, so we've decided to let him loose on his favorite city and give him his own section of our blog... we'll call it BobTown.   Most of the time it won't have anything to do with drag or gay stuff or even him... just stories about... BobTown.   We get a lot of hits from all over the world - probably from people who want to know more about Vermont's Queen City.  Maybe they're future tourists or they're thinking about moving.   You locals may learn something, too!  Enjoy!!For other BobTown posts, click HERE.
