In a joint press release, Nurse Ann Thrax (pictured at right), head nurse at the Lady Zeno Memorial Groinacological Free Clinic, Game Warden Bucky Snatcher and Hank from down at the Beaver Pond Pork By-Products Processing Plant (BPPBPPP), stressed that the porcine population of Beaver Pond, both dead and alive, was no threat to the general population at large.
"Yes, we all need to take precautions. And the best thing you can do is wash your hands, wash your hands, wash your hands. And changing your underwear once or twice a week would be nice, too," advised the nurse.
Game Warden Snatcher (left) did announce that because of the current media scrutiny on all things swine-related, the annual Beaver Pond "Bloat'n'Float" where a pig carcass is weighted down, dumped into Beaver Pond and people buy chances on when it will surface, will not be held this year. "We started getting some grumblings from those people down stream in Beaver Creek. It's all because they didn't think of it first. It's the kids who'll suffer." Money raised from the Bloat'n'Float goes towards Troop 69 of the Little Beavers of Beaver Pond.
Hank, owner and manager of the BPPBPPP and Poppa Rod's Pizza Pub (located in the same building), says that the PRPP's weekly special - the POP (piles of pork) Pie will still be offered. This is despite the warnings from the Beaver Pond Department of Health advising against the ingestion of certain ingredients that may end up in the POP pie.
In September of last year, Nurse Ann Thrax issued her annual plea for people to get their flu shot... you can read it HERE.
